Figure 6. VATT Dome Rotation Drive Wheel System. Shown is the completely redesigned mechanical stage that uses a constant force gas piston with a large compliant travel. The new system has proved to be very reliable in rotating the dome under the full range of temperatures and wind loads experienced in the dome.
